Flying through the airport where things went wrong in your latest book

Erin Ampersand looking concerned as she lands in Denver International Airport

Last weekend, I had the tremendous privilege of attending the first-ever LitRPG Con in Denver, Colorado.

Today, Tuesday, I released my fourth book: Engineer’s Odyssey, a standalone side story in the Apocalypse Parenting universe, where the main character starts the apocalypse trapped in the Denver International Airport.

For those who are paying attention, this means that when my flight out of Denver got canceled/rescheduled, I was definitely doing calculations like “This is fine! This is super fine! I’ll be out of here by eight and the apocalypse starts between 9 and 10 am local time. Plus, that’s on a Wednesday. Today’s a Monday. Nothing at all to worry about. Definitely.”

Anyway, I took a few photos as I was moving through the airport and I thought it might be fun to share them with readers.

I am pleased to say no airplanes crashed through the windows while I was watching.
‘Bout to book it down the concourse and rob a convenience store! No, wait. That was Vince. No, it wasn’t Vince! He paid! …Kind of.
Good to have a chance to personally confirm that it would be A: technically possible to lift and swing these B: fairly useless if you couldn’t remove the bottom disc. The balance for using them as weapons is indeed as awful as I predicted.

Some views of the area around Denver as I took off and landed. I was trying to spot the Costco Distribution Center that’s near the airport – which was the inspiration for the ValuCo Distribution Center that appears in my book – but I’m not sure if I managed that or not. I still thought people might like seeing the countryside they travel through! It’s surprisingly open for an area so near a mountain range.

Very pleased that my husband and I didn’t have to fight space rodents on the way to the car rental. Crossing this road was WAY easier for us than for Vince and his allies.

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed! You can find Engineer’s Odyssey on Audible, Amazon, Kobo Plus, and several other retailers. You can also request your local library add it to their OverDrive catalogue!
